A beauty business owned by Lord Sugar and former Apprentice candidate Susan Ma will launch in Bedford on Monday 11^th March.

Susan Ma was just 21 when she made it to the 2011 final of the popular BBC TV series of The Apprentice.

She didn’t win, beaten that year by inventor Tom Pellereau, but Lord Sugar liked her business plan so much that last year he became a 50/50 partner in the company Tropic Pure Plant Skin Care.

The business is due to launch nationally in May, and will be re-branded Tropic Pure Plant Beauty Ltd when it branches out into cosmetics too.

The pre-launch in Bedford hopes to attract about 100 guests to the King’s House Conference Centre on Monday 11^th March.

In addition to showcasing the Tropic Natural Beauty Range, representatives from Tropic will be offering the opportunity for local people to start their own business as self-employed  ”Ambassadors”.

Caron Brooks and Nicole Eaton, the two Founding Ambassadors in Bedfordshire, are recruiting self-employed Ambassadors across the County.

When Lord Sugar and Susan launch the business nationally, Bedfordshire will be to the forefront and will need 200 to 300 Ambassadors to ensure full coverage, especially when the opportunity is offered to the surrounding towns and counties.

Ambassadors can be full-time, part-time or even to raise cash for a charity. It’s a flexible arrangement designed to suit the Ambassador’s needs and other personal commitments.

The Tropic products are 100 per cent natural – being plant based. They are Vegan Society approved and not tested on animals.

The launch event is also supporting Bedford Daycare Hospice and will run a raffle on the evening. Prizes include a luxury Tropic Pamper Hamper, Season’s Fruit and Vegetable Hamper and beauty treatment vouchers. Morrisons are due to move onto a site in Ampthill Road, Bedford.Getting well underway the ground preparations began earlier this month.

However the new development has caused concern over traffic around the town. Many already have concerns over the flow of traffic along Ampthill road and believe that the new development will be the cause of greater issues.

Many though are pleased to see another supermarket in the area, giving people an alternative to Tesco!

The programme, which features Graham and Terry, licensees at the Knife and Cleaver pub and hotel in Houghton Conquest, will air next Thursday night at 5pm after the new season kicks off on Monday.

The five-part show sees four hoteliers take turns to stay in each other’s accommodation and go head to head to prove theirs is the best. Famed for their excellent homecooked food and friendly welcome, and with nine recently refurbished ensuite rooms, Graham and Terry were confident that their guests would be impressed.

Graham said: “Being asked to appear on TV was an honour for Terry and I. We wouldn’t have missed this opportunity for anything and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”
